Newcastle retain Tierney interest

Newcastle United retain an interest in Arsenal full-back Kieran Tierney.

The 26-year-old is out of favour in North London and was left out of the matchday squad for the season opener against Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

Eddie Howe told Sky Sports News last week he'd love one more singing, but Newcastle would need to be creative due to FFP constraints.

As a result Newcastle would need to agree a season-long loan with obligation to buy the Scotland international outright next summer.

Arsenal however would prefer to cash in now for Tierney, but at the same time understand his desire to play football.

Tierney signed for Arsenal for £25m in 2019 and is valued around the same.

Newcastle aren't the only club interested in Tierney and the Scot has a lot of things to consider. He's aware this is a crunch point in his career.

Eddie Howe rates Tierney highly, and wants to add competition for Matt Targett at left-back, allowing Dan Burn to be considered at his favoured centre-back position.
