Inter confident on move for Man Utd target Pavard

Inter Milan chief executive Beppe Marotta has revealed that Benjamin Pavard has expressed his desire to join the club from Bayern Munich.

Sky Sports News revealed earlier this month that Pavard was on Manchester United's list of defensive targets - but a move has been put on hold with Harry Maguire now set to stay at Old Trafford.

That has appeared to have opened the door for Inter to strike negotiations with the French international.

"In a negotiation, what the player wants is always important and in this case, the player has expressed his desire to join us," Marotta told AFP.

"Bayern is a very rich club which can hardly do without high-quality players.

"To let a player a go, they must have his replacement and this will set in motion the mechanism which will allow the departure (of Pavard)."
