Barcelona and Samuel Umtiti have agreed the mutual termination of his contract.
There was a clause that existed that meant Barca could terminate the final two years of his deal.
Ultimately, activating the clause was not needed as the two parties have agreed to end his deal with immediate effect, with three years left.
The contract ran until 2026. Umtiti spent last season on loan at Lecce.
Barca need to move some players on to meet their financial fair play commitments, and be able to register new signing Ilkay Gundogan as well as bring in further additions.
