UCL: Guardiola gives update on Kevin De Bruyne ahead of Real Madrid clash

Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, has provided the latest update on midfielder Kevin de Bruyne’s fitness ahead of his side’s Champions League semi-final first-leg tie with Real Madrid on May 9.

Guardiola confirmed that De Bruyne trained ahead of Man City’s encounter with Leeds United on Saturday (May 6), meaning the Belgium international is expected to be available against Real Madrid.

De Bruyne missed Man City’s last two games against Fulham and West Ham United due to a bruised foot.

There have been worries about De Bruyne missing the clash against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, Guardiola speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the Leeds clash, Guardiola said: “He trained yesterday, trained good. Today we train, and we decide after training.

“Losing or missing just one week or ten days in this stage of the season is not a problem. The same happened with Nathan (Ake). If he’s fit, he can play.”

De Bruyne has been in sparkling form this season, scoring nine goals and providing an astounding 27 assists in 42 matches across competitions for Man City.
