Pep Guardiola blocks Man City star from joining Real Madrid

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola will not allow Joao Cancelo to join Real Madrid.

The Portugal defender, who is currently on loan at Bayern Munich, is being targeted by both Real Madrid and Barcelona.

The highly rated right-back fell down Pep Guardiola’s pecking order at Manchester City and had to move to Germany in January.

But it appears new Bayern Munich manager, Thomas Tuchel is not overly convinced by the Portuguese’s performances and would not want the club to meet the €60 million buy option in his contract.

El Nacional reports that Cancelo has emerged as a serious target for Barcelona who want to free centre-backs Ronald Araujo and Jules Kounde from duties.

Real Madrid will also benefit from the 28-year-old’s addition considering he can double up as a left-back.

Los Blancos are looking for a solid competition for 31-year-old right-back Daniel Carvajal and are believed to be looking for an upgrade on Ferland Mendy.

However, the report says that Guardiola does not want Cancelo at Real Madrid and will block any such move from happening.

He prefers the player to join Barcelona instead.
