Martin Keown slams De Zerbi’s wild celebration inBrighton’s win at Emirates

Arsenal legend Martin Keown has taken aim at Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi over the manager’s celebrations in their victory against the Gunners.

The Seagulls all but ended Mikel Arteta’s side’s title hopes with an emphatic 3-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium.

The Brighton boss was seen running down the sidelines, a little bit onto the pitch, and then dropping to his knees.

All Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side need now is just three points from their last three games to clinch their fifth title in six seasons.

However, Keown, a legend of the game, was not impressed with De Zerbi’s celebration, saying that it would cause outrage had Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta behaved that way on the touchline.

The Arsenal legend said on talkSPORT: “I honestly feel that if Arteta did that on the side of the pitch, we’d never hear the end of it, but is it ok for De Zerbi to do it?

“Because it’s Brighton and it’s inoffensive because it’s everyone’s second favourite team, we turn a blind eye to it.

“As a goalscorer, if you take your shirt off, you get a yellow card.

“Do you not feel that as a manager, if you come racing onto the pitch—he wasn’t just doing it on the sidelines, he did it on the pitch—is that not an automatic yellow card?”
