I’ll fight Lampard, I don’t rate him – Andre Wisdom slams Chelsea boss

Former Liverpool and Derby County Defender, Andre Wisdom, has slammed Chelsea interim manager Frank Lampard.

Lampard is said to have had a poor managerial career so far. The Englishman who began his managerial career at Derby County in 2018, left the club for Chelsea in 2019 and was sacked by the Blues after a run of poor results.

Lampard became Everton’s manager in 2022 and helped them avoid relegation but could not sustain the momentum as he was sacked by the Toffees following a run of defeats.

Thinking that his first sacking in the Roman Abramovich era was somewhat harsh, the Blues’ new owners, led by Todd Boehly brought him back to serve on an interim basis at Stamford Bridge following the dismissal of Graham Potter.

However, the former West Ham United, Chelsea, Manchester City and New York City FC midfielder has overseen six defeats in his first six games in charge of the West London side.

While at Derby, Wisdom was coached by Lampard, and the former Liverpool defender has admitted that he did not get on well with the English coach.

He even went as far as saying that he could fight Lampard if he ever saw him again after their time at Pride Park.

Wisdom was relegated to a bit-part role under Lampard at Derby, who was in charge for the 2018/19 campaign, making just 11 Championship appearances.

He told The Beautiful Game podcast: “His job is his job, all the best to him.

“If he was sat here would I speak to him? Nah.

“What is the other guy called? Jody Morris[Lampard’s assistant]. I just didn’t rate them.

“They’re just not my type of people. On a night out, I’d probably get into a fight with them. I just expected more from him as a man.”
