EPL: West Ham identify ex-Arsenal midfielder Matteo as Declan Rice’s replacement

West Ham United are targeting former Arsenal midfielder, Matteo Guendouzi as a potential replacement for Declan Rice this summer.

Rice has made it clear that he is keen to leave West Ham for a Champions League club in a bid to further his career.

West Ham are also understood to be willing to sell Rice at the end of the season and are holding out for a £100million transfer fee.

Different Premier League clubs are interested in a deal for Rice, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City.

But according to The Athletic, West Ham are already lining up potential replacements for Rice and on their shortlist is Guendouzi.

Guendouzi is currently in his second season with Marseille after his loan move from Arsenal was made permanent last summer.

The 24-year-old, who fell out with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta during their time together at the North London club, has established himself as a key player in Marseille’s midfield.

Guendouzi currently has two years remaining on his contract with Marseille.
