EPL: Rooney names four Man Utd legends that would get into Manchester City’s current team

Manchester United legend, Wayne Rooney has named himself and three Reds Devils legends that would get in the current Manchester City team.

Man City have their sights set on a historic treble as they challenge for the Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League.

Pep Guardiola’s side currently have one point above Arsenal, who sit in second position and face Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Champions League this week and Man United in the FA Cup final next month.

However, Rooney believes the likes of Paul Scholes, Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic and himself would have been ‘perfect’ for Manchester City.

“Could the 2008 Manchester United team have competed with Man City? Head to head, we would have had a good chance, but over a 38-game season, they would’ve had the edge,” Rooney told The Times.

“There were players in our team who would’ve gotten into this City side. Paul Scholes would’ve been perfect, Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic too.

“I believe I would have fitted into it as well – and I would’ve loved to play with Kevin De Bruyne and Haaland.”
