EPL: Man United owners finally select who’ll buy club

Manchester United owners, Glazers have selected Sir Jim Ratcliffe as their preferred bidder.

The race for the new owner of the Old Trafford has been between Ineos founder, Ratcliffe and Qatari banker, Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani.

The battle of takeover has lasted for over five months now and has seen three rounds of bidding to win control of the club.

The third and final bid for the club was submitted in April to the US bank Raine Group, which has been overseeing the sale.

The Sun reports that the Glazers have selected the Ineos founder’s bid as their preferred partner and an official announcement could come ‘within days’.

Two of the Glazer family, Joel and Avram, will not be selling their shares and will remain as part of the ownership group at United.

The other four Glazer siblings are selling theirs.
