EPL: I feel special – Harry Kane reacts to overtaking Rooney’s goals record

Tottenham Hotspur striker, Harry Kane says it is a ‘special feeling’ for him to overtake Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney and become the English Premier League’s second all-time leading goalscorer.

Kane achieved the feat after scoring a header in Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Kane’s goal against Palace was his 209th in the Premier League, meaning he has overtaken Rooney to become the league’s second all-time leading goalscorer, only behind Newcastle legend, Alan Shearer, who has 260 goals.

“It is nice to get on the scoresheet and when you win it feels that bit sweeter,” Kane told BBC MOTD.

“I want to keep scoring goals so to pass someone like Wayne Rooney, one of the best players in this country, it is a special feeling.”

The result moves Tottenham up to sixth in the table, six points behind fourth-placed Manchester United, having played two games more.
