He cannot do it – Guardiola reveals why Kyle Walker isn’t playing for Man City

Manchester City Manager, Pep Guardiola has given reasons why Kyle Walker is no longer featuring for his team regularly.

Walker has started only two of the last seven games the Premier League champions have played.

In recent fixtures, Guardiola has set his team up with John Stones as an auxiliary central midfielder.

Ahead of the Southampton clash on Saturday, Guardiola revealed that the 32-year-old cannot follow the tactical instructions required to take up Stones’ current role.

“To play inside you have to make some movements, Kyle has other characteristics.

“With this shape of three at the back and two in the middle, he cannot do it. It’s a question of skills. In that position, he’ll need time and we don’t have time,” Guardiola said.
