FA Cup: I felt sorry – Man Utd’s Weghorst reveals he made Brighton’s Solly miss penalty

Manchester United forward, Wout Weghorst has suggested that he was the one that made Solly March miss his penalty during the shootout in their FA Cup semi-final tie at Wembley on Sunday.

Weghorst revealed that before the shootout, he asked his teammates to play mind games with Brighton players but his teammates did not do it.

March stepped up and missed the lone penalty in the shootout which gave the Red Devils a 7-6 win.

Weghorst said he went ahead to speak to March before the penalty, and he ended up missing his penalty.

The Red Devils star said he feels sorry for March because his antics might have led to the midfielder missing his kick.

“I already said to do it before we started, to some of our guys but nobody did it. I scored, saw the ball and tried to get a few advantages to maybe help us win it,” he told the Evening Standard.

“I walked to him and said some things, but at the end, I felt sorry because he was the one that missed. I just tried everything and normally it doesn’t make a difference but maybe it did.”
