Former England international, Wayne Rooney has hailed Arsenal goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale, saying that the Gunners shot-stopper reminds him of Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel.
Rooney said he is a big fan of Ramsdale who has been a crucial figure for Arsenal, especially during their recent shaky defensive period.
Writing in The Times (via Evening Standard), Rooney said:
“I am a big fan of Aaron Ramsdale. Despite his slip-up against Southampton, he has made a number of fantastic saves and played with a huge presence.
“He reminds me of Peter Schmeichel. Obviously, Ramsdale has to keep improving to get near [Peter] Schmeichel’s levels, but the whole package makes him the closest thing I have seen for a long time to the Great Dane.”
