Bassey had come under intense criticism following his poor form in recent times.
The Nigeria international was however awarded the Man of the Match after a sensational performance against NEC last weekend.
“While I was on the subs’ bench, I studied the way the defenders played,” Bassey told reporters.
“I spent a lot of time watching how Jurrien Timber and Edson Alvarez positioned themselves when they were in my position in defence.”
Bassey will now hope to get a consistent run of games in the team.
