Burnley manager Kompany: So much to come from Southampton attacker Tella

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany declared that Nathan Tella is at the very start of his career.

The 23-year-old has been very impressive on loan at Burnley from Southampton.

He netted his 17th goal of the Championship season, and his second hat trick, for Kompany's men recently.

“For this season, his level is Championship and now he's got to aim for the Premier League," said Kompany.

"His career has started. He can now look back and say that he can do it at this level. And when you score goals like he does, you always give yourself a chance.

“When you have a full season of playing competitively, that's what it does for you. This has been the right step for him and us. I hope he's looking forward to the next nine games to see how high the bar he can set for himself."

The Belgian added: "He puts in the effort and he gets the goals. It's always important - and I always say this to young players - to pitch yourself at the level where you're going to play and where you're going to be appreciated for who you are at this moment in time.

“He's still got a long way to go, but for what he's doing now, he can look back and say that his career has started now. He'll always be able to look back at this season and say 'I can do it'."
