Thiago Silva agrees contract terms with Chelsea

Thiago Silva has agreed terms with Chelsea over a new contract.

The London Evening Standard says the Blues have verbally agreed a new 12-month contract with Thiago Silva, extending his career beyond his 39th birthday.

The Brazil international has opted to stay in west London until the summer of 2024 as his form continues to defy his age, making 24 appearances for his club in all competitions this season.

The extension will now be actioned by Chelsea's lawyers and Thiago Silva's agent after a prolonged period of talks.

Thiago Silva has turned down interest to return to his home country with Fluminense and is known to have settled well in west London with his children, who speak fluent English, playing in the Blues academy teams.
