Sergi Busquets giving priority to Barcelona over new contract talks

Sergi Busquets is giving priority to Barcelona over new contract talks.

The midfielder's contract is up and he has interest from several clubs on the table, but he will not make a decision until he meets with Barça, which could be imminent, says Sport.

The Catalan club are planning to offer him a one-year renewal with a significant reduction in salary, but expect the player to be happy to continue playing as he continues to show a high level of play this season.

Busquets felt a few months ago that perhaps his cycle at Barça was over. MLS clubs were approaching him and there was a possibility that he could have left in the January transfer window, but Barça stopped him from leaving due to his importance in Xavi's scheme.

The captain has since recovered his best form and looks comfortable in Xavi's new system, much more supported in midfield. He feels that he can go for another year, but is now waiting on the club. He will have good proposals, but he will prioritise Barça.
