Aaron Ramsey admits Aston Villa teammate Cameron Archer convinced him about moving to Middlesbrough on-loan.

The 20-year-old joined Michael Carrick's promotion-chasing side after injury saw his previous loan spell at Norwich City cut short. The England u20 international made 20 appearances in total during his time at Carrow Road, scoring and assisting three goals apiece after making the step up to the Championship

Middlesbrough is the third loan move of Ramsey's fledgling career, with the attacking midfielder being trusted to be part of another Premier League promotion push

Former Villa coach Aaron Danks approached Ramsey about joining Boro in January, having become Carrick's assistant in December after leaving Villa Park.

“I spoke with Danksy about coming and then after that I rang Cam [Archer] straight away after. He's obviously been here a few weeks so I wanted to know what it was like," Ramsey told TeessideLive.

"He was like, 'yeah, 100% you should come up. It's a great place and the lads are great.' I got here and he was right, the lads have been perfect with me since I got here and it makes it easier to settle in and focus on your football when the lads are like that. They make it easy for you."
