Ramos retires from international football

Sergio Ramos has announced his retirement from international football at the age of 36, after a glittering career with Spain.

The PSG defender made 180 appearances for his country, winning the 2010 World Cup and 2008 and 2012 European Championships.

Ramos represented Spain at 10 major tournaments in a row, but was not selected for Euro 2020 after an injury-hit season and was overlooked for last year's World Cup squad.

He tweeted: "I will continue to cheer on my country from home with the emotion of the privileged person who has been able to proudly represent it 180 times. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of you who always believed in me!"
