Man Utd keeper De Gea receives gift for clean sheet record

Manchester United shot stopper David de Gea received a commemorative shirt for his clean sheets achievement at the weekend.

De Gea, who kept out Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final to propel his team to a 2-0 success, managed his 181st shut out for the Red Devils.

Such a mark, achieved in his 523rd game, meant that he is now the all time clean sheet holder for Manchester United.

United released a photo of De Gea and manager Erik ten Hag, with the Dutchman handing his keeper the shirt with 181 on it at the back.

Previous record holder Peter Schmeichel also posted on Twitter: "181 clean sheets.

“Amazing way to celebrate it. Congratulations on this record."
