Ex-Super Eagles boss, Rohr confirms interest in Benin coaching job

Former Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr has said he is still in talks with the Benin Football Federation (FBF) over the country’s coaching job.

Reports emerged in the media on Tuesday that the Franco-German has been named head coach of the Squirrels.

Rohr, however, said he will meet officials of the FBF at the end of this month to take a decision on the coaching job.

“I will meet Benin officials at the end of February and then we will decide,” stated the 69-year-old.

Rohr has been without a job since he was sacked by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in December 2021.

Former Benin international, Moussa Latoundji is currently in charge of the Squirrels on an interim basis.

The FBF will hope to wrap up a deal with Rohr on time with their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Rwanda fast approaching.

Benin is bottom of Group L after losing their opening two games in the qualifiers against Senegal and Mozambique.
