Clause may block Ajax move for Liverpool chief Ward

Liverpool's departing sporting director Julian Ward is seen as a candidate for a top job within Dutch football.

Ward is ready to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, with De Telegraaf stating he is interesting the likes of Ajax.

Liverpool announced Ward's departure earlier this season, with the sporting director having spent ten years at the club in various roles.

While Ajax may want Ward in place in the summer, he may not be allowed to take on the job that early.

Per the Liverpool Echo, a clause in his contract means that he cannot join another club for the next 12 months after he departs.

That means he would not be eligible to join a Dutch club until the summer of 2024.
