Barcelona chief Alemany remains hopeful signing LA Galaxy fullback Araujo

Barcelona chief Mateo Alemany says they remain hopeful of signing LA Galaxy fullback Julian Araujo.

Barcelona did no major business, but did allow two first-team players to leave in Hector Bellerin and Memphis Depay.

Meanwhile, they tried to sign Julian Araujo from LA Galaxy but were late in attempting to register him.

"No one came in because we think we are fine with the squad we have, even if it's true that three players left and no one came in," said Alemany.

"We prioritised registering players like Gavi.

"We couldn't register [Julian Araujo] due to a system error, it was just 18 seconds, we'll see what FIFA say."

One player that Alemany considered for the first team was Fiorentina and Morocco midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

No deal came about, though, and he was cool on whether they will renew their interest in the summer.

"He's a player we looked at, just like we looked at several others," said Alemany.

"Now was a good moment, in the summer we'll see."
