We offered to sign Ronaldo, pay him what he earned at Man Utd – Brazilian club

Brazilian club Corinthians has said that they planned to pay Cristiano Ronaldo exactly the wages he was receiving at Manchester United.

The club’s President, Duilio Monteiro Alves, confirmed that they made an offer to sign the 37-year-old superstar.

He, however, said they were beaten by Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr who offered 20 times more.

Ronaldo signed for Al Nassr last week on a free transfer and has started training with the Saudi Arabian club.

He was in the dressing room on Friday night when his side faced Al Tai at home and won 2-0.

The former Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus’ superstar had his contract terminated at Manchester United following a face-off with the manager, Erik ten Hag.

Corinthians president confirmed Ronaldo’s earlier claim that he had offers from around the world, including Brazil but rejected them.

“We made an offer to Cristiano Ronaldo. A salary equal to what he earned at United, two-year deal with the help of sponsors,” he said.

“I know he also had proposals from Europe. But the proposal from Saudi Arabia was 20 times higher.”
