Transfer: It won’t be easy for Arsenal – Arteta laments as Chelsea win race to sign Felix

Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta has admitted that his side may find it difficult to cope if they fail to recruit an attacker in the January transfer window.

This was after Chelsea won the race to sign Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid this transfer window.

Arsenal were in advanced talks to sign the Portugal international who does not want to remain at Atletico Madrid under manager, Diego Simeone.

Graham Potter’s Chelsea are now on the brink of announcing a six month loan deal for the World Cup star after agreeing a £9 million loan deal with Atletico.

The Blues have also reportedly accepted to pay Felix’s salary in full, which is believed to be in the region of £275,000 a week.

Arteta was asked about Arsenal missing out on signing Felix from Atletico Madrid and he told ITV after their FA Cup win on Monday, “My job is to make those players as good as I can.

“I will try to do that and if we have any reinforcements, great.

“The problem is we have only one [striker].

“And to go for that many months until Gabby is back is not easy.”
