They’re close to becoming title winners – Carragher picks new champions

Former Liverpool defender, Jamie Carragher, has insisted Arsenal has what it takes to hold onto their lead in the Premier League title race.

The Gunners welcome Manchester United in their next league fixture on Sunday.

Mikel Arteta’s men are five points ahead of Manchester City, who came from behind to defeat Tottenham 4-2 on Thursday.

Ahead of the match at the Emirates, Carragher dismissed United’s chances of winning the title.

Carragher wrote in The Telegraph: “Ten Hag will know United are ready for the biggest honours when they have the same swagger. To get there United must prepare for bumps in the road as the transition continues.

“Arsenal are at that point first. They are on the threshold of being title winners and must show they can take that final step.”
