Ex-Newcastle midfielder Dyer questions move for Everton winger Gordon

Ex-Newcastle United midfielder Kieron Dyer is not entirely convinced by Anthony Gordan.

The Everton winger is being linked with a move to the St. James' Park club.

While Dyer admits that Gordon is very talented, he questions the youngster's displays for the Toffees this season.

Dyer told Sky Sports News: "Age is nothing but a number. You look at Arsenal at the moment with how many young players they have got in the squad, Saka, Martinelli.

"They're all stepping up to the plate. Yeah, Chelsea were keen to sign him and he's a terrific young prospect. Everton need him, I know he's young but Everton need him because it's alright having a number nine but if you don't have the service, you're not going to score goals.

"I do think they need a number nine but if you look at their midfield three, they're all very similar. They're all about winning the ball back, they haven't got that creative spark. This is where Gray and Gordon are really key for them, to provide the goals for a centre-forward to score."
