Qatar 2022: Piers Morgan reacts as Argentina beat France 4-2 in World Cup final

TV host, Piers Morgan, has congratulated Lionel Messi-led Argentina after they defeated France 4-2 on penalty in the 2022 FIFA World Cup final on Sunday evening in Qatar.

Argentina had drawn 3-3 against France after 120 minutes at Lusail Stadium.

Messi and Angel di Maria put La Albiceleste 2-0 up in the first half, but Kylian Mbappe scored a brace in the second half to force the game into extra time.

However, Messi scored for Argentina in 108 minutes before Mbappe completed his hat-trick as he netted a late extra-time second-half goal to force the game into a penalty shoot-out.

The Les Blues ended up losing 4-2 in the penalty shoot-out against Argentina.

Reacting, Morgan, a Cristiano Ronaldo confidant, also sympathized with France for losing the final, describing the game as incredible.

He tweeted after the match, “BREAKING: Argentina win the World Cup on penalties. What a game. Incredible drama.

“Congrats to Lionel Messi & his team. Commiserations to the French who gave it everything, especially the brilliant Mbappe.”
