Mexican legend Memo Ochoa: I'm ready to prove myself at Salernitana

Mexican legend Memo Ochoa is thrilled to make the move to Salernitana.

The veteran goalkeeper has joined to the end of the season, with an option for another 12 months.

At today's presentation, Ochoa said: "When the opportunity to play in the Italian Serie A arose, I could not say no. The sports director (Morgan de Sanctis) explained to me what the Salernitana project is in the medium-long term and I immediately felt involved.

"I had other solutions to continue my experience in other countries and in other championships, but as soon as the World Cup ended I felt the desire to marry an ambitious, interesting project.

"I am really happy to be here, I bring my experience within the group and I hope to be able to make a great contribution also on the green rectangle."

Ochoa is in line to make his debut against AC Milan.

He added: "It must be an additional motivation, I am happy to make my debut against an international opponent like Milan. We really want to start the year well, but in our stadium we can take away many satisfactions. I play in the best league in the world, I am very happy to wear the grenade shirt."

Ochoa also explained: "There is an option for another season. It was the management who proposed a six-month contract. De Sanctis was very clear when he spoke to me. And in football it is not easy to meet such an honest and direct club.

"I really appreciated it. It was an agreement that made both sides happy, now it's my turn to make myself available to the team and create the right opportunities for me to do well in Serie A. The competition creates the right stimuli, it is obvious that I would also like to leave my mark on Salerno."
