FA identifies new EPL replacement if Southgate resigns as England manager

The English Football Association (FA) will consider appointing Leicester City head coach Brendan Rodgers as the next England manager if Gareth Southgate quits his role.

According to the Mirror, Rodgers has emerged as a likely candidate on the FA’s radar if current head coach Southgate decides to resign as England manager.

The report added that the FA have also considered some other options, with Chief executive Mark Bullingham looking to appoint another Englishman should Southgate choose to quit, but knows that the options are limited.

This is coming after the Three Lions were eliminated from the 2022 FIFA World Cup quarter-final last weekend.

Recall that England lost 2-1 against France in the World Cup last-8 as captain Harry Kane missed a penalty during the tie.

Southgate is currently taking time to consider his future with England.

The 52-year-old, who led England to the Euro 2020 finals, has not yet made up his mind, having endured a tough last 18 months.
