EPL: Even Wolves won’t sign you – Paul Merson slams Jesus’ replacement at Arsenal

Arsenal legend Paul Merson has taken Eddie Nketiah to the cleaners, saying that even desperate bottom-table Wolves won’t sign him.

According to Merson, the Gunners won’t finish in the top four, let alone clinch the league title with Eddie Nketiah up top instead of Gabriel Jesus.

Nketiah will naturally step in to cover for Gabriel Jesus who was injured during the World Cup and has been ruled out for the next three months.

Jesus has been pivotal to Mikel Arteta’s side’s fine run in the Premier League this season, scoring five goals and making six assists.

With the 25-year-old Brazil international sidelined, the Gunners have been predicted to struggle when the Premier League returns on Boxing Day.

But manager Arteta is confident that backup striker Nketiah can fill Jesus’ void.

However, Merson is not confident at all that Nketiah can keep Arsenal’s title dream alive.

“You still wouldn’t fancy them to win the title without Gabriel Jesus,” Merson said on Daily Star.

“I’d be shocked if they got in the top four. I just don’t see where the goals come from.

“Without being horrible, what Premier League team does Eddie Nketiah get in? Wolves are bottom for instance, they’re desperate for a goal and they wouldn’t go and get him.”
