Diego Maradona Jr: My father loved Messi; let's enjoy this great champion

Diego Maradona Jr says his father "loved" Lionel Messi.

Diego Jr is now coach of local Naples club Afro Napoli.

He told Radio Kiss Kiss: "That between Argentina and France was a beautiful game even though I suffered a lot because I was cheering for the Albiceleste. Two very strong teams met, they gave a show.

"Naples looked like Buenos Aires: I was at the celebrations in the Campania capital, many also tried to speak Spanish. What effect did Lionel Messi show me with the toga delivered to him by the Emir? I would like to move away from this controversy and I don't want to talk about it.

"Just compare him to my father. Lionel Messi is a huge champion, one who won the World Cup and deserved to raise the cup. Let's clap our hands.

"My father was football. Do you know what Dad said about Messi? My father loved him because he said he was a champion. I repeat: enough controversy, let's enjoy this great champion."
