Carabao Cup: Burnley coach, Vincent Kompany hails two Manchester United players

Burnley head coach, Vincent Kompany has lauded Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes after their brilliant performances for Manchester United against his team in the Carabao Cup last-16 fixture on Wednesday night.

Man United qualified for the last eight of the Carabao Cup thanks to a 2-0 victory against Burnley at Old Trafford.

Christian Eriksen and Rashford scored the goals for the Red Devils against Kompany’s side.

The Carabao Cup tie was Man United’s first competitive match since the 2022 FIFA World Cup finished last Sunday.

Speaking at his post-match press conference, Kompany said, “I thought that both goals were worked really well.

“The pass from Fernandes is perfect, and Ian (Maatsen), a young full-back, needs to learn to anticipate these balls. Then as well, the centre-backs, the young centre-backs, are going to learn to anticipate that ball going square again.

“I thought there was a lot of quality in the pass. Again, the goal we conceded from Rashford was a lot of quality on the counter, and that was always going to be a danger for us.”
