Willock: Victory at Southampton proves Newcastle progress

Newcastle United midfielder Joe Willock believes the 4-1 win over Southampton shows their progress in under a year.

The Magpies are a revolutionised team under boss Eddie Howe, compared to their form under previous boss Steve Bruce.

The Magpies have now managed to enter into the top four of the Premier League, as they sit in third after 14 matches this season.

Speaking to reporters post-game, ex-Arsenal star Willock stated: "It was a good win, it shows how far we've come you know the way we dug deep to come away with the win today.

“I'm happy obviously to score and help the team. It was a brilliant ball from Tripps (Kieran Trippier) and a good finish."

He added on eventually getting a home goal: "I'm itching to score at St James' Park now, I feel like it's coming and hopefully next week My whole performance and not only the goals, the level of performance. I'm happy I could score and hopefully it can continue."
