SFA reduce Goodwin's eight-match ban after Porteous 'blatant cheating' claims

Aberdeen boss Jim Goodwin's eight-game ban for accusing Hibernian defender Ryan Porteous of "blatant cheating" has been reduced by the SFA after an appeal.

He made the comments after the Easter Road defender went down in the box during a match between the sides and was awarded a penalty by referee David Dickinson, while Dons defender Liam Scales was sent off.

Aberdeen went on to lose the match 3-1 which then resulted in Goodwin's outburst that initially landed him an eight-match ban from the SFA, of which two games were suspended until the end of the season.

The SFA have now reduced the ban to three games immediately and two suspended until end of season.

One of those three games has already been served, meaning Goodwin will be absent from Friday's visit of Hibernian and next Tuesday's trip to Livingston, but will return to the dugout for Aberdeen's clash with Dundee United on Saturday November 12.
