Man Utd boss Ten Hag hoping Garnacho goes to World Cup

Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho will benefit from not going to the World Cup this winter.

That is the opinion of his club manager Erik ten Hag, who spoke about the teeanger in midweek.

Garnacho was outstanding when he came on in the second half in a 4-2 win over Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup third round at Old Trafford on Thursday.

He provided two assists to help United win from 1-0 and then 2-1 in the contest.

"It's difficult to say," Ten Hag said of Garnacho's World Cup prospects with Argentina to reporters.

"I don't know all the available Argentina players, of course I know a lot of players from Argentina, what is available for them from 26.

"And the other thing is it's a big step to go to a World Cup, where the best players in the world come together, it's a big step.

“I don't know if that's the right step for him. I think he has to keep his head clean, stay calm, work hard and develop, I think go from game to game."
