Man City boss Guardiola insists Walker, Phillips can make World Cup

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has given a boost to England boss Gareth Southgate.

Guardiola was speaking about his injured stars, as the World Cup looms large for many top international players.

Asked about England internationals Kyle Walker and Kalvin Phillips, Guardiola felt that both could be fit in time for the group stages of the competition in late November.

"It's likely [they can be ready], the way they recover," Guardiola told reporters.

"I don't know intentions for Gareth [Southgate - England boss].

“He spoke with them regularly. They know better than me.

“What I hear in the dressing rooms can be ready. You don't play a World Cup every week."
