Jordan supports Rooney’s criticism of Ronaldo

Former Crystal Palace owner, Simon Jordan has agreed with Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney’s criticism of forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo has made headlines for the wrong reasons on different occasions so far this season.

The Portugal captain was keen on leaving Man United in the summer, but a move away from the Red Devils failed to materialize.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner also walked down the tunnel before the final whistle of Man United’s Premier League 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur last month.

His decision made Man United manager Erik ten Hag ban him from the match-day squad in the following game against Chelsea as they drew 1-1.

Ronaldo’s former teammate Rooney recently criticized the former Juventus and Real Madrid attacker for his antics.

Rooney said, “I just think the things he [Ronaldo] has done from the start of the season, it is not acceptable for Manchester United. I have seen Roy Keane defending him. Roy would not accept that. Roy would not accept that at all.”

However, Jordan has now joined Rooney in his criticism of Ronaldo.

Jordan told talkSPORT: “I think that he [Ronaldo] needed to be a self-starter in terms of being an example and a role model, he is in a club where Man United was in flux. It was in disarray for several years with a lack of standards.

“He did not get a choice about standards when he played for Sir Alex Ferguson the first time around. He did not get much of a choice playing for Real Madrid about what standards he would and would not deploy.

“But he did get a choice at Manchester United [second spell] because the place was in disarray and there were not any leaders in there. So what we might have seen is a real glimpse into the character of Cristiano Ronaldo.”
