Jetro Willems is again a free agent.
The former PSV and Newcastle United wing-back has terminated his contract with German Second Division outfit Greuther Furth.
He explained to Voetbal International: "There is nothing bad about Greuther Fürth, which is a wonderful family club, but I had to think about myself with a month or two out to clear my head.
"We must not forget that football is also a mental sport. If the head is not involved, it can affect your physical ability.
"It has been a difficult time for many players, also because of corona. And look how many players they have been injured not to mention all the players who have had depression in recent years.
"I think that if they had taken a break of a month or two, they might have avoided the mental problems."
