Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi has admitted interest in Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi.
De Zerbi worked with Frattesi when coach of Sassuolo, but admits he never had total confidence in the midfielder.
"I was wrong, I didn't think he was so strong," he told Sprotitalia. "I didn't think he could be so complete, he became a great footballer."
A reunion has now been mooted for Frattesi, however the Seagulls will face competition from Roma.
Frattesi came through the youth system at Roma before leaving for Sassuolo.
