UCL: Rio Ferdinand names England player to become best in history, break all records

Former Manchester United’s defender, Rio Ferdinand has said that Liverpool right-back, Trent Alexander-Arnold will ‘go down’ as one of the best England ever had in that defensive position.

According to Ferdinand, Alexander-Arnold will ‘break all records’.

This was after the England international starred in Liverpool’s 2-0 Champions League victory over Rangers on Tuesday night.

Liverpool dominated the play at Anfield with Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah scoring for the home side.

Alexander-Arnold, who has come in for criticism this season, gave Jurgen Klopp’s side an early lead after beating Allan McGregor from 25 yards with a superb free-kick.

Salah put the game to bed shortly after half-time with an emphatic penalty after Luis Diaz was brought down in the box.

And Ferdinand singled out the 23-year-old right-back for praise after the Reds’ much-needed victory over Rangers.

He told BT Sport: “Listen, he’s going to go down as one of the best right-backs we’ve ever seen in England. He’s going to break all the records in terms of assists and goals [from a right-back].

“Him and [Chelsea star] Reece James will go close together throughout their careers.

“He’s got the taste of winning at Liverpool, he’s not going to let that slip.”
