Victor Osimhen will play no part in Napoli’s Serie A clash against Cremonese on Sunday, according to manager Luciano Spalletti.
Spalletti has missed the Partenopei’s last five games across all competitions as a result of injury.
The Nigeria international has been sidelined since sustaining an injury in Napoli’s UEFA Champions League home clash against Liverpool last month.
The 23-year-old trained with his teammates for the first time since picking up the injury on Friday.
There were reports the striker could be included in the matchday for the game against Cremonese but Spalletti has ruled out the possibility.
” We have to be careful with Osimhen, he is not yet in perfect condition and we decided to give him another rest to give him the right time to recover,”Spalletti was quoted by the club’s official website.
“These are assessments that are made after clinical examinations because once we have already had to do without it. for a long time. We don’t want to risk anything. Victor will be working on site these days ”
Osimhen has scored two goals in five appearances across all competitions for the Partenopei this season.
