Liverpool won't change stand on Super League

Liverpool have not changed their stance over the European Super League at present, per the Liverpool Echo.

The Reds were among the Premier League clubs that put their names to a new league, which would have seen clubs break away from the existing UEFA structure of tournaments.

However, fan backlash meant that all the English clubs who had joined eventually pulled out.

The company behind the ESL has appointed a new CEO, who aims to get the competition started within two or three years.

German television executive Bernd Reichart, the new CEO, told the Financial Times the following:

"We want to reach out to stakeholders in the European football community and broaden this vision.

“Even fans will have a lot of sympathy for the idea."
