James Maddison reveals what Pep Guardiola told him after Leicester’s defeat to Man City

Leicester City attacking midfielder James Maddison has revealed his discussion with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola after their Premier League clash on Saturday.

The England midfielder revealed that Guardiola confronted him at the end of Saturday’s Premier League clash over Leicester City’s approach to the game.

Manchester City defeated Leicester City 1-0 to leapfrog Arsenal and return to the summit of the Premier League table, with Kevin de Bruyne scoring the only goal in the second half.

Brendan Rodgers’ side employed a defensive approach until the game’s closing stages when the Foxes began to threaten City’s goal.

Guardiola was caught deep in conversation with Maddison after the game.

Asked what he and Guardiola were conversing about, Maddison said: “He was asking why we didn’t play like the last 15 minutes for the whole game.

“I think he realises it’s not as easy as that. But he’s a top manager with a top team so it’s always going to be tough.”
