EPL: Martin Keown slams Alex Ferguson for mocking Arsenal

Arsenal legend, Martin Keown has slammed former Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson for mocking the Gunners.

Red Devils legend, Rio Ferdinand had last month revealed that the former Manchester United boss, Ferguson would often mock the Emirates Stadium landlords during pre-match team talks before Premier League games.

During their active days, Sir Ferguson’s side had a fierce rivalry with Arsenal under Arsene Wenger, with the two teams dominating the Premier League between 1997 and 2004.

Keown criticised the legendary Scott for his mockery of Arsenal, saying he should have been focusing on his own team.

“That’s poor, it’s poor,’ Keown told talkSPORT when asked about Ferguson’s comments.

“Not a great topic. I thought the great Alex Ferguson would’ve found a bit more to have gone at with the players to motivate them.

“Were they playing to stop us? Or were they playing to be successful for themselves? In our dressing room, for [Arsene] Wenger it was about us, not about the opposition.

“I’ve been in dressing rooms towards the end of my career where I went to work for a manager who would just ridicule the opposition manager.

“I wasn’t learning anything from that.”
