Arsenal defender Saliba at centre of Sampaoli quitting Marseille

Arsenal defender William Saliba was a flashpoint in Jorge Sampaoli's resignation at Olympique Marseille.

The new Sevilla coach quit OM at the end of last season.

CBS's Ben Jacobs said: "Sampaoli was unhappy with the ambitions of the club and he felt that they should have done more to try and recruit Saliba.

"Saliba was open to that before speaking in detail with Mikel Arteta. Sampaoli felt there was an opening which was ignored by OM.

"This was not his only complaint, but an example of a difference of opinion and approaches."
