Sunderland boss Mowbray tells Everton striker Simms: Be more selfish

Sunderland boss Tony Mowbray is convinced of big things from on-loan Everton striker Ellis Simms.

The 21-year-old - who joined the Black Cats on a season-long loan - has already scored three goals in seven Championship games this season but is now the only senior striker available, following injury to Ross Stewart.

But new boss Mowbray believes the young striker can step up to the plate, adding that he needs to be a bit more selfish between the posts and get the goal returns up.

Mowbray told the Northern Echo: "That is my message to him really.

"Be a bit more selfish, between the sticks. You have to work hard, and I am sure he will because it is in his nature, but be selfish enough to get in between the posts and finish the chances off."
