Transfer: You don’t need him – Agbonlahor questions Man United move for £84.5m winger

Aston Villa legend, Gabby Agbonlahor has questioned Manchester United’s big-money pursuit of Ajax’s winger, Antony.

Manchester United want to bring in the winger this summer with the player also keen on joining the Red Devils but Ajax are adamant the Brazilian is not for sale.

The Red Devils had their offers for the player rejected multiple times, but they have tabled their latest which is in excess of €90 million (£76m).

The Dutch side are demanding around €100m (£84.5m).

Agbonlahor is not at home as to why United would want to pay as much as €90 million for the player.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor said: “They need a striker, for me, a striker.

“Rashford did well as a striker against Liverpool, so maybe Erik ten Hag sees Rashford playing through the middle and then he’s got Elanga, Sancho and he doesn’t need another one.

“£84million, really?”
