Transfer: ‘Big fish in small pond, hero’ – Paul Merson advises Chelsea’s £50m target

Arsenal legend, Paul Merson has told Everton star, Anthony Gordon to ‘go with his heart’ as the player considers joining Chelsea this summer.

Chelsea want the deal done before the end of the window on Thursday and are willing to pay around £60m for the 21-year-old.

The player is also open to joining the Blues as he wants to play in the Champions League.

“I think he [Gordon] will leave for Chelsea tomorrow morning if he has the chance.

“Anthony Gordon’s a hero at Everton. He’ll play every week, and he’ll be a big fish in a small pond. Will he go to Chelsea to sit on the bench and not play?” Merson told Sportskeeda.

However, he pointed out that the youngster, who would probably earn triple the wages at Stamford Bridge, may not find such an opportunity again if he turns the move down.

Noting that it would be a difficult decision for the 21-year-old to make, Merson advised him to look away from the money and go with his heart.
